Max is one of our Account Executives here at Webgains. Before joining Webgains he worked at VouchedFor (a review site for financial and mortgage advisers) as a Consumer Coach focusing on client service targets. Since then Max has worked at Webgains for almost two years, first in the Publisher Team and subsequently progressing to his current account management role.<\/div>\n

Welcome Max to our latest Meet the Team, our first question for you is h<\/span><\/b>ow do you like to start your working day?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With a cup of strong coffee.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Very nice, so can you tell us, w<\/span><\/b>hat do you do at Webgains and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I am an Account Executive at Webgains working closely with clients to understand their long-term marketing goals and to\u00a0<\/span>develop\u00a0<\/span>their affiliate programs. My primary objective is to proactively grow my client base by creating and executing strategic growth plans for new and potential new publishers, and by analysing and applying meaningful account data to optimise existing publisher relationships.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you need help to expand a client\u00a0<\/span>relationship,<\/span>\u00a0I am always happy to manage and assist wherever possible. This would involve generating relevant analysis reports, monitoring growth trends and building rapport through regular contact.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sounds great! So, w<\/span><\/b>hat\u2019s\u202fthe\u202fcoolest thing you\u2019re working on right now?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The coolest thing I\u2019m working on right now is building up one of our new client accounts – Different Dog, a fresh dog food\u00a0<\/span>subscription<\/span>\u00a0service. Besides my love for all things canine I am organising several exciting publisher opportunities for the account which I think will add great, lasting value to their affiliate potential.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And w<\/span><\/b>hat\u2019s a mistake you made early on in your career, and what did you learn from it?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One big mistake I made early on in my career was not delegating as required. I made it a habit of taking on as much as possible, which is never the right approach. Since then, I think my time management and delegating has improved. Finding good people to trust and rely on to produce an excellent service is an important strategy and something I\u2019m glad I learned early on. So being honest with yourself and identifying what you need to do to address your weakness and improve your performance was a valuable lesson.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who\u00a0<\/span><\/b>would you say has<\/span><\/b>\u00a0influenced you<\/span><\/b>\u00a0the<\/span><\/b>\u00a0most when it comes to how you approach your work?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have learned that being diplomatic in your approach to activity planning with existing and potential clients is one of the most important aspects of building relationships.\u00a0<\/span>In my\u00a0<\/span>last job, at VouchedFor, my manager<\/span>\u00a0taught me how to\u00a0<\/span>shape communication with<\/span>\u00a0clients with a high level of professionalism<\/span>\u00a0– from how to prepare for key meetings to the tone in which you speak and interact with clients.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Communication is key! So, Max you\u2019ve been at Webgains now for nearly 2 years, what<\/span><\/b>\u00a0has been your experience\u00a0<\/span><\/b>working here<\/span><\/b>\u00a0so far?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Very positive. Webgains has a very accepting and meritocratic culture where everybody\u2019s contribution is fully valued. You are given the opportunity to reach your potential.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u00a0<\/span><\/b>keeps you\u00a0<\/span><\/b>energize<\/span><\/b>d\u00a0<\/span><\/b>at work?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Client feedback. If I deliver a well-received presentation, produce an insightful report or, more generally, make clients happy with my service, I always get energi<\/span>z<\/span>ed by this.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s great and w<\/span><\/b>hat\u2019s one thing that surprised you about working at Webgains?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of our strengths at Webgains is how we support and build rapport with clients. During my time here I have come to fully appreciate the time and effort we, collectively, invest in building long-lasting and mutually-beneficial client relationships. It is something that surprised me as I had not previously worked for a company with such focused dedication to this objective.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And finally, Max, w<\/span><\/b>hat\u2019s your secret talent that no one knows about?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I taught myself to play the piano. I have been playing now for nearly two years now. It teaches you quite a lot about the need for perseverance, time management, and discipline.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
