Joep has been working for a couple of big players in the online industry.\u00a0Leaving\u00a0The Netherlands to start his career at Criteo in Barcelona,\u00a0he later relocated\u00a0to London to work at Partnerize. In June\u00a02020 he launched the new Amsterdam office for Webgains. He brings a lot of passion and energy\u00a0to the team and is\u00a0always keen to talk about\u00a0anything that relates to the Benelux region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Welcome, Joep to our meet the team interview! Our first question to you, how do you like to start your working day?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

After reading previous interviews with my colleagues at Webgains, I\u2019ve drawn to the conclusion that I\u2019m starting my day exactly the same way as others\u00a0across the globe, with coffee. I do like to get up early and get some work done before office hours start.<\/p>\n

We do like our coffee here at Webgains! So tell us what do you do at Webgains and in what circumstances would I\u00a0reach out to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anything related to the BeNeLux markets. I\u2019m\u00a0focused on\u00a0growing the\u00a0business right now.\u00a0I oversee all\u00a0account management as well as publisher management.\u00a0I also support our international offices with the network I\u2019ve built over the past couple of years. Last but not least,\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019m always up\u00a0for a \u00a8Friday afternoon drink\u00a8<\/p>\n

Good to know! Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

That\u2019s a\u00a0tricky question. I\u00b4ve been lucky\u00a0to\u00a0have met and worked with some great individuals during my career. Every job I have had so far had people that influenced me and taught me how to deal with situations. It\u2019s hard to pick someone in particular. Also, the fact that I\u00b4ve lived in 3 countries has taught me\u00a0about the\u00a0different ways that people\u00a0interact and engage.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s\u202fthe\u202fcoolest thing you\u2019re working on right now?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

What gives me energy is working with\u00a0good\u00a0people and seeing\u00a0them reach their full potential. Right now, I\u2019m in the process of hiring\u00a0for the BeNeLux market\u00a0and\u00a0I am really excited to be growing a fantastic team<\/a>.\u00a0Furthermore,\u00a0every new client has a different story, and it\u2019s great to work with so many companies that all have different needs.\u00a0With the hands-on team we have here at Webgains,\u00a0the coolest aspect of my job\u00a0is to see that client expectations are always met, every single time.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s a mistake you made early on in your career, and what did you learn from it?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are many mistakes that I have made\u00a0(and there are\u00a0mistakes\u00a0I make every\u00a0day) but I am\u00a0good at learning from them. Most of my mistakes have to do with patience (or rather\u00a0my\u00a0lack of\u00a0patience). This is something that I\u00a0work on daily and it has\u00a0improved significantly over the last couple of years.<\/p>\n

What has been your experience of working at Webgains so far?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I couldn\u2019t\u00a0have wished\u00a0for a warmer welcome.\u00a0Despite working both remotely and in a different country\u00a0to\u00a0all my colleagues,\u00a0everybody has been extremely helpful and\u00a0supported\u00a0me\u00a0with whatever I needed.\u00a0I can\u00b4t wait to meet all of my colleagues in person soon.<\/p>\n

We can\u2019t wait to meet you too! So Joep, what keeps you energized at work?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

People, both colleagues as well as\u00a0clients, as I\u2019m pretty much an energetic personality. And the fuel for my energy comes from other people. Also, the fact that I drink about ten coffees a day might stimulate the energy level a bit.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a lot of coffee! What\u2019s one thing that surprised you about working at Webgains?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The combination of a platform that\u00b4s industry-leading when it comes to the technical possibilities together with the extremely friendly, smart and helpful people. I think Webgains is in a great position to grow even bigger than we already are, and I\u2019m very excited to be part of this journey.<\/p>\n

And we\u2019re excited that you\u2019ve joined us on our journey too. Lastly, one more question, what\u2019s your secret talent that no one knows about?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ha! Obviously, it\u2019s secret for a reason, so let\u2019s keep it that way \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
