Welcome Max to our latest Meet the Team, our first question for you is how do you like to start your working day?

Very nice, so can you tell us, what do you do at Webgains and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?
I am an Account Executive at Webgains working closely with clients to understand their long-term marketing goals and to develop their affiliate programs. My primary objective is to proactively grow my client base by creating and executing strategic growth plans for new and potential new publishers, and by analysing and applying meaningful account data to optimise existing publisher relationships.
If you need help to expand a client relationship, I am always happy to manage and assist wherever possible. This would involve generating relevant analysis reports, monitoring growth trends and building rapport through regular contact.
Sounds great! So, what’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
The coolest thing I’m working on right now is building up one of our new client accounts – Different Dog, a fresh dog food subscription service. Besides my love for all things canine I am organising several exciting publisher opportunities for the account which I think will add great, lasting value to their affiliate potential.
And what’s a mistake you made early on in your career, and what did you learn from it?
One big mistake I made early on in my career was not delegating as required. I made it a habit of taking on as much as possible, which is never the right approach. Since then, I think my time management and delegating has improved. Finding good people to trust and rely on to produce an excellent service is an important strategy and something I’m glad I learned early on. So being honest with yourself and identifying what you need to do to address your weakness and improve your performance was a valuable lesson.
Who would you say has influenced you the most when it comes to how you approach your work?
I have learned that being diplomatic in your approach to activity planning with existing and potential clients is one of the most important aspects of building relationships. In my last job, at VouchedFor, my manager taught me how to shape communication with clients with a high level of professionalism – from how to prepare for key meetings to the tone in which you speak and interact with clients.
Communication is key! So, Max you’ve been at Webgains now for nearly 2 years, what has been your experience working here so far?
Very positive. Webgains has a very accepting and meritocratic culture where everybody’s contribution is fully valued. You are given the opportunity to reach your potential.
What keeps you energized at work?
Client feedback. If I deliver a well-received presentation, produce an insightful report or, more generally, make clients happy with my service, I always get energized by this.
That’s great and what’s one thing that surprised you about working at Webgains?
One of our strengths at Webgains is how we support and build rapport with clients. During my time here I have come to fully appreciate the time and effort we, collectively, invest in building long-lasting and mutually-beneficial client relationships. It is something that surprised me as I had not previously worked for a company with such focused dedication to this objective.
And finally, Max, what’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
I taught myself to play the piano. I have been playing now for nearly two years now. It teaches you quite a lot about the need for perseverance, time management, and discipline.
