Advertiser Spotlight: Pong Cheese

For our latest Advertiser Spotlight, we talk to Pong Cheese, to learn more about their Webgains affiliate programme, what makes their company different, and their plans for the future.

Welcome to the Webgains Advertiser Spotlight. To begin, could you please tell us a little bit about Pong Cheese?

Pong believe cheese is the greatest gift of all. We sell a large selection of award-winning cheese gift selection boxes for the ideal birthday, anniversary, wedding or corporate present. You can also receive regular boxes of expertly selected seasonal cheeses with our Pong Cheese Club where customers get 50% off the first box.

Each of our cheeses is a little masterpiece of taste and texture and in most cases has a unique and highly skilled process behind its production. From the seasonally-limited ‘Vacherin Mont d’Or’, to the now legendary ‘Stinking Bishop’, any of the cheeses available at Pong deserve centre stage.

Is there anything else you’d like to add? For instance, what are your business values? What is your story?

14 years ago, Pong Cheese was created by two friends from Bath, the capital of the ‘Napa Valley’ of cheese: Somerset. They felt that cheese was treated unfairly in the UK. It’s usually only given centre stage at the end of a dinner party when everyone’s full; in a restaurant we’re frequently forced to choose between a dessert OR cheese.

Their goal was to give cheese back the attention it deserves. With their passion and knowledge of cheese they created the UK’s favourite online cheese shop. They select the very best cheeses from all over the world, each with a unique origin story. They work to support artisan cheesemakers by celebrating the love and passion that is channelled into the art of cheesemaking.

What would you say are the biggest benefits for a Publisher working with your company?

There are key periods in the UK where cheese is an absolute must for the dining table and for gifting, so during these times our publishers will see huge growth in sales. We are always willing to work with publishers who can offer us great exposure and try our best to offer exclusive discounts, increased CPA and supporting assets.

Pong as a brand name is searched as a key term in search engines, so customers will be actively looking for deals on our products.

What can you tell us about your audience? What types of Publishers do you work best with?

Our audience tends to be slightly older (35+), with a higher disposable income and a passion for food. We find that whilst it’s female led on the key shopper, it’s consumed more by males. They’ll likely enjoy a food subscription and not be scared off by big flavours, unique ingredients and new experiences.

We work well with most publishers, traditionally voucher code publishers have done well on our programme but with more competition in the online cheese market, comparison publishers are becoming increasingly important. The passion behind people’s love of cheese makes content publishers another exciting avenue for us.

Is there anything else you’d like our Publisher clients to know?

As people eat with their eyes, we would love you to make full advantage of our product images and can supply whatever you need to help you advertise our products.

So, what makes your company an exciting one?

We’re always working on new products such as The Scottish Cheese box, our Wallace and Gromit Cracking cheese box which was created in unique partnership with Aardman, and our 2023 ‘Mystery Box’ which our customers have loved. We are constantly adding new and exciting cheeses to our range which re-invigorates our core audience and keeps things fresh and energised. We also feel that our European range of cheese makes us stand out from our competitors as we have a wide range of French, Italian and Spanish cheeses, and import many AOC cheeses such as Brie de Meaux, Camembert de Normandie and Comte. Only the original and best will do.

Does Pong Cheese have any exciting plans coming up in 2023?

We’ve just launched a new look to our brand which will extend across the whole website and assets very soon. As part of this, the popular Pong Cheese Club will get a refresh in both looks and structure. There are plenty of new cheeses to be added to the range in 2023. This is a great time for publishers to get onboard with the Webgains programme where we’re focused on making this the best year ever for affiliate marketing.
